Science Week
Next week is National Science Week. It runs from 12-20 August. National Science Week is Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology. It aims to provide an opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of scientists, STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) professionals, innovators, designers and entrepreneurs to the world of science. It also aims to encourage an interest in science and STEM among the public.
The school theme for National Science Week in 2023 is Innovation: Powering Future Industries. The theme incorporates the advancement in technology in all industries, especially using artificial intelligence (AI).
The curriculum focus of the theme is on:
- Science as a Human Endeavour
- Chemical Sciences
- Physical Sciences
- Earth and Space Sciences, and
- Biological Sciences.
Next week, all of our Learning Communities will be celebrating Science Week. On Wednesday 16th August, we will be having a Science afternoon where each community will participate in Science Investigations and Experiments. Some of the experiments include creating a lava lamp, tornadoes in a bottle and fireworks in a jar. It should be an exciting afternoon. Read this page in the next few weeks to find out how it went.
