Cebula Boarding

Boarding News

We were saddened to hear of the passing on July 31 of Mr Bill “Raso” Raas, one of our long serving Boarding Supervisors. Bill worked at the College for 12 years, earning the respect of many boarders during that time.

Last Sunday’s Boarders' Mass, one of celebration for Bill's life, was attended by all the Cebula community and several staff keen to pay their respects. Mr Frank Brown, a friend and colleague, along with a number of the boarders, spoke about Bill with genuine fondness. We will remember him as a bit of a larrikin with a heart of gold. The Cebula community, was represented at Bill’s funeral, which was held in Northam yesterday, by Head Boarder, Elijah and students from the various year groups.

On Perth’s coldest night last week, three boarders took part in the Vinnies Winter Sleepout to raise both funds and awareness about the increasingly concerning issue of homelessness. Well done to Ben, Braydon and Tyler for stepping up and committing themselves to supporting this great cause.

Our Year 10s had a great night at their Dinner Dance with St Brigid’s held last night at Mulberry Estate in Caversham. They danced the night away with some great moves acquired during the dance lesson program preceding the event. It was great to see them enjoying the night along with their friends and dance partners.

As part of our weekend activity program, we’re very excited by the arrival of an old motorbike to boarding. We hope this will give the boys hours of enjoyment as they work through a “rebuild project” (under staff supervision) due to commence after the forthcoming boarder’s long weekend. It’ll also help them learn patience, focus and the value of teamwork. When the motorbike has been rebuilt the boys will donate it to a cause of their choice.
