Principal's Report

Daniel Webber

Congratulations to our Wakakirri students!

I am thrilled to share that our talented group of Grade 5 and 6 Wakakirri students put on a truly magnificent performance at the Wakakirri Story Dance Festival on Thursday night! The festival, known for its celebration of storytelling through dance, brought together schools from all over the region to showcase their creativity and passion on stage.

For those unfamiliar with the Wakakirri Story Dance Festival, it is an annual event that encourages students to express themselves through storytelling and dance. It provides a unique platform for young performers to explore diverse narratives with the power of movement and expression. There is a theme each year and this year’s theme was Change, with our team creating a clever performance using the narrative of an enchanted toy shop to tackle the change issue of war and communicate the change message of a transition to peace.

Representing ACPS with grace, confidence and enthusiasm, our students took the stage by storm, leaving the audience cheering and their Principal immensely proud. Their performance was a testament to the hard work and dedication put in by both students and teachers. A heartfelt thank you goes out to our exceptional teachers, Linda Zanatta and Sarah Bailey, who have devoted countless hours mentoring and guiding our students to compose and prepare for this performance.

I would also like to express our gratitude to all the parents who made the trip to Moonee Ponds to support our students. Your presence in the audience not only brought joy to our performers but also emphasised the strong sense of community that we cherish at ACPS.

As a school, we are immensely proud of our students' achievements and their dedication to the Wakakirri Story Dance Festival. Congratulations to all our students for their fantastic performance, and a big thank you to Linda Zanatta, Sarah Bailey, staff and our parents for their unwavering support.

ACPS Athletics Carnival

The ACPS Athletics Carnival will take place on Thursday 10 August at Tom Kelly Athletics Track in Doncaster. The event will run from 9:00am - 2:30pm for Grade 3-6 students and 10:00am - 1:30pm for Prep - 2 students. Families are welcome and encouraged to attend the day either in a spectator or volunteer capacity.  Please remember to come in your house colours, runners, plenty of snacks, lunch and refillable drink bottle. Remember a jacket to keep warm in case of inclement weather.

We would love to have lots of parent helpers to assist on the day, if you would like to volunteer please email natarsha.kenny@education.vic.gov.au.

Late Pick Ups and Drop Offs

We ask that students arriving late to school are accompanied to the office with their parent/guardian to sign them in via the Compass machine at the front office. This is an important part of our duty of care to ensure students have arrived safely at school.

If you need to collect your child early please come to the office to sign them out and collect a slip to then take to the classroom teacher. As this is often in the middle of a teaching session we also ask your understanding that the teacher may not be able to have a conversation with you at this time beyond that of quickly helping you collect your child.
