REPRESENTATIVE SPORT

School Sport Australia Hockey Championships

Audrey P has returned from Hobart after competing at the School Sports Australia Hockey Championships. Audrey started off the tournament by being named ‘player of the match’ at Game 1. She then backed it up the following day by receiving ‘player of the match’ again against Tasmania. The NSW team had wins against ACT, Tasmania, Victoria, Western Australia and South Australia. Their only loss was against a very strong QLD team which put NSW in 2nd place overall, walking away with silver medals for the tournament. Such a huge achievement and experience for Audrey. We must all keep our eyes peeled over the years as we might see Audrey on our screens playing for the Hockeyroos.

NSWPSSA Girls Football

Sophie A is off to Nelson’s Bay next week to give it her best shot at the NSWPSSA Girls Football Championships. Wishing you all the best Sophie as you take to the field.

School Sport Australia Touch Championships

Charli M will be competing next week at the School Sport Australia Touch Championships in Darwin. We wish Charli M all the best as she enjoys the experience of training, competing and networking amongst Australia’s most talented Touch Footy Athletes. Good-luck Charli M!

Conference 3 Athletics Championships

We are super proud of the 30 students who represented our school at the Conference 3 Athletics Trial on Wednesday 9th August. A long and exhausting day for our students and spectating families but one of worth to see our students shine in the area of track and field. We even have some of our students progressing to the Sydney Trial. As the official results are finalised, we will share our schools achievements and progressions in the next newsletter.

Could all students please wash and return their representative jersey or singlet to the office before the end of this week.

INTERSCHOOL SPORT

Year 5 have one more session next Tuesday 15th August to wrap up their interschool sport for Term 3. Please ensure all Year 5 have any gear they require for interschool next Tuesday.

There is a possibility that Level 1 teams who top their pool will progress to a championship day in Term 4 however this is yet to be confirmed. As this information is released to us, we will share it with our parent community.

Year 3 Oz-Tag Gala Day (compulsory for all students)

The Year 3 SCS Interschool Oz-Tag Gala Day will be held on September 12th, Week 9 of Term 3. There is a possibility this could also be changed to League Tag. In the coming weeks all Year 3 families will receive details and consent via COMPASS.

BASKETBALL GALA DAYS

Our stage 3 girls have completed their Basketball Gala Day at Sutherland Basketball Stadium. Mrs Moss was very impressed with how the girls represented our school and the way they interacted with their opponents. We had one of our teams make the Grand Final but unfortunately were defeated. Nonetheless, the girls left the court with smiles on their faces after experiencing a full day of being active while the weather was quite miserable outdoors. A big thank you to our assisting parent managers who made this day possible.

Next up is our Stage 3 Boys who will take to the court this Monday 14th August. Mrs Miller, Miss Dorough and Miss Millis all look forward to it. The draw has been shared via the COMPASS event.

Mrs Col will shortly meet with any Stage 2 girls who have their gala day on Monday 21st August and our Year 3 boys who have their Gala day on Monday 4th September. For any stage 2 families involved in this event, please ensure you have provided consent via COMPASS.

NSWCPS Netball Carnival

The NSWCPS Netball Carnival is fast approaching on Tuesday 22nd August. If you had registered your child for this event you would have received consent/payment details via COMPASS. Please ensure you provide consent to ensure the smooth running of this event. Team managers will be emailed over the next week to confirm availability with assisting us on the day. Our teams do require an umpire so if you have umpired Netball in the past and you are available or know of someone else who is willing to help out on the day please email amanda.col@syd.catholic.edu.au. All students must be at school by 6:45am to board buses for Penrith. We have 8 teams entered and students will be told who is in their team on Monday of week 5.
