Ensembles in Semester Two

All ensembles have now resumed for semester two. Students are reminded to please contact their ensemble director if they can’t make a particular rehearsal for any reason.

We have had a few staff on leave early this term. Thank you to the following teachers for filling in over the past few weeks:

• Mrs Janet Ernst – filling in for Mrs Reid.
• Ms Harper Dawson – filling in for Mrs Gaudion
• Ms Allessandra Vodanovich – filling in for Mr McGuffie

I trust that students have appreciated gaining insights on their playing from a different teacher.

Instrumental Lessons

A few reminders for students regarding instrumental lessons:

• Please check your lesson times carefully each week, and again the day before the lesson. Write yourself a reminder if you need it so you remember to attend (or if you use a BYOD, set a reminder using a calendar app such as Outlook).
• If you will miss a lesson please see your teacher or send your teacher an e-mail in advance. In some cases, the lesson time may be able to be re-arranged but this is not always possible.
• Please ensure you complete regular practice as advised by your teacher. Some teachers will write practice requirements in the Compass lesson plan, so please check this.

Spring Concert 2023

Our Spring Concert is coming up soon, on Thursday August 31st. This will involve mainly involve our senior groups:

• Symphonic Band
• Symphonic Strings 
• Stage Band
• Chamber Strings
• Stick Tricks
• Senior Vocal Ensemble

We will also hear from our Harmonix choir and enjoy a massed strings item combining our Intermediate Strings with the Symphonic Strings. As such, students in Intermediate Strings will be required at this concert for the massed strings item. However, their own pieces will be performed at the Junior & Intermediate Concert in November.

Tickets will be advertised through Compass newsfeed and more details on student requirements will be communicated via a Compass event.
