F/1/2 News

We have had a great two weeks in the F/1/2 classroom.

In English, we have continued to focus on narratives. The students have been developing their own characters and are starting to write their own stories. We have also continued learning about our letters. We have also had a particular focus on remembering to write our letter J the correct direction. The students have enjoyed practising our jumping with our legs kicking behind us, to help us remember which way the tail goes. They also enjoyed editing photos of themselves jumping, so that a J is drawn on their body.

In Maths, we have started learning about data collection. We are working on developing questions and collecting data. We have also started discussing what questions might be asked about data and how we can use counting, addition and subtraction to answer them.

In Cross Curriculum, we have continued to learn about special places and have been connecting this learning with understanding how place is important to Indigenous Australians.

In Religion, we continued to learn about Pentecost, as well as practice for our class Mass. It was great for the students to be able to sing ‘Hearts on Fire’ in Mass, which were learning about in our Pentecost unit.

                               3/4 News.

This fortnight in the grade 3/4 room we have enjoyed having two visits from AFL for a sports clinic. We enjoyed learning how to kick and handball. We didn't let the rain ruin our fun!

In religion we have been learning about pentecost and the gift of the spirit. We got creative and made some posters about important 'spirit filled people'.

Our spelling pattern this week is our as in colour. We added our spelling words to the colourful rain underneath a cloud that we drew ourselves.

Last week was reconciliation week. Each day we read a dreamtime story in celebration of the indigenous culture. We also collected some stones from around the school and made prayer rocks with them.
