Teaching and Learning in LOTE

YEAR 1

Year 1 students have been busy learning many new words in Indonesian. Each week they have been practicing saying ‘hello’ (Selamat pagi/siang) and ‘good bye’ (Sampai jumpa!). They have answered ‘What’s your name?, ‘How are you feeling?’ and ‘How old are you?’ Students have had lots of fun learning to count to 10 through many games, activities and songs.

YEAR 2

Year 2 students have jumped back into Indonesian with great enthusiasm! After some revision of greetings and numbers, they practiced colour words by reading ‘Where is the Green Sheep?’ Students also learned positional language words and then made their own page for a class book. They have loved using Indonesian to play lots of games and to read their books

YEAR 4 and YEAR 6

Year 4 and 6 students have been learning about sports, traditional games and hobbies and have made comparisons between Indonesia and Australia. They have used new vocabulary to play games such as charades and bingo, answer quizzes and to express their likes and dislikes of different sports and hobbies.
