Teaching and Learning in Prep W

It has been a busy time in Prep W so far this term and we have achieved so much already.

In Maths, we have been looking at different ways to make numbers to 10. We made lady birds with 10 spots on their back and looked at how many different ways we could make 10 through this.

We learnt that 10 can be:   

1 and 9, 2 and 8, 3 and 7, 4 and 6, 5 and 5

In Literacy we have continued to learn our Jolly Phonics sounds and have enjoyed some great experiences, which recently included making jelly and watching it wobble on the plate for ‘Jj’

We have begun using our phonics sounds to make words and practised writing a dictation sentence. We listened to the sounds in the words and then wrote them down.

Last week was Mother’s Day and we had a great time creating a present for our mums. We did a directed drawing of ‘Mum and me’ and filled in a report card all about mum. We hope all the mums enjoyed their present and had a great Mother’s Day.
