News and Reminders:

  • Technology - A reminder that all students are strongly encouraged to bring their own device from home each day to school. We expect the devices to be charged at home as we cannot do this at school. We will be continuing to provide learning activities accessible online for them to access during the day. We have a limited supply of school devices available so cannot guarantee the use of these during all learning tasks.
  • Premiers Reading Challenge has started, students can log their books at home with the login details provided. If you have any troubles accessing the website please contact your childs classroom teacher. They can log the books they are reading each night in both their diaries and the Premiers Reading Challenge website.
  • Reminder about reading, this is an expectation for all students. We have seen a decline in home reading being logged in diaries and we want to encourage students to keep up these routines at home. Reading is an important way of developing language skills, enhancing creativity and exposing students to new words and ways to use language. Please remind your child/children to write down the book they are reading in their diaries.
  • Production news: Students in Grade 4 will be performing in the production on Wednesday the 21st of June, students will need to wear a long sleeved black t-shirt and black pants, students are also required to wear black socks and mostly black shoes. It is now time to send your costume in to school with your child so the classroom teachers can tick items off. These costumes will then be sent home, once checked by the classroom teacher, for you to keep safe until the night of production.
  • Spelling has begun for the term and students will be receiving weekly spelling words, the focus is on the rule and not the list of words being sent home. The words the students are tested on each week will be different to those learnt at home to consolidate the learning of the spelling rule and to enable students to use the rule across various different words. We encourage you to work with your child to read and spell the list being sent home and to discuss the spelling rule with your child.

Celebration of Learning:

A few weeks ago selected Grade 4 students, learning Mandarin this semester, performed a Mothers song at assembly. These students dressed in cultural clothing and sung along to a beautiful song accompanied by our wonderful Grade 2 pianist; Sumo.

4A and 4E enjoyed a very exciting and busy trip to the Chinese Museum. 4C, 4D and 4B will attend this excursion later in the year. Students explored Chinese migration during the gold rush and the meaning behind the Chinese dragon.

4E had the pleasure of teaming up with students in 1D to learn about using an App called Chatter pix. Grade 1's taught the Grade 4 students how to create a picture and use the voice over function.
