Foundation (Prep)

Week 5

Now that we are mid-term, it is important to complete some assessment tasks to ensure students are grasping the concepts covered so far. It is the perfect opportunity to check that personal learning goals are current and to help the children understand what they are working towards.

This week we have completed a number of assessment tasks. During Writer's Workshop, all students had a go at writing independently. I was impressed with the optimism the children showed.  The children were encouraged to have a go, as many are still used to having assistance from the teacher. Everyone was able to write independently and it was wonderful to see how proud so many felt, after realising they could write more than they thought they could.

The children have also completed assessment tasks on writing numbers and addition. With regards to reading, I will continue to assess letter identification and do reading assessments throughout the term.

It hasn't been all assessment this week. We have had fun making a class big book called, What's Behind the Door?  We have focused on the letter Dd this week so everything behind the door starts with Dd. We also enjoyed painting some dinosaurs!

Enjoy the weekend!
