Last Friday we held our HSC Body of Work Exhibition, displaying the talent and creativity of our Year 12 students.
HSC English
"If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together."
The newest MAG HSC English students are off to an excellent start, working together as they build strong and lasting communication skills. This term, all of the Year 12 English classes are exploring the film 'Billy Elliot', considering the importance of community, family and individual expression.
Message from the Head of Faculty - Mathematics: Mr Phillip Campbell
Dear Parents and Students,
I am writing to inform you that the Moama Anglican Grammar Mathematics Department has made the important decision to use the Cambridge Mathematics texts for all secondary year levels from 2023. Whilst this will mean no change for students in years 10 to 12 who already use the Cambridge texts, it does mean that Years 7 to 9 students will no longer be using the Maths Pathway platform.
This change is based on the professional judgement of staff and feedback from the community. As well as the proven teaching and learning formula and complete syllabus coverage offered by Cambridge, the innovative digital capabilities will assist us guide students through Stages 4 (Years 7 & 8) and 5 (Years 9 & 10) mathematics and prepare them for success in Stage 6 (Years 11 & 12).
Powered by the Cambridge HOT maths platform, the Interactive Textbook offers effortless and immediate navigation to powerful digital resources, which include;
- Videos for key examples.
- Workspaces in the Interactive Textbook that allow students to complete all activities online.
- Self-assessment tools that allow students to assess their own working and alert the teacher to questions that they don’t understand.
- Embedded Desmos Interactive Widgets and an interactive graphing calculator, geometry and scientific calculator tools.
- Free access to “More HOT maths” for year 3 – year 10 allows students to access material for revision or to accelerate their learning.
- A Learning Management System offering exceptional support for teachers including task management, testing and reporting. Reports allow teachers to see students’ working and summaries of student self-assessment, completion rate of students’ work, and questions they have flagged as difficult looking at either individual students or a whole class. This allows the teacher to pin point students that require extra assistance.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
An Electrifying Class!
Mrs Paul's Year 9 students have been learning about how resistors, voltmeters and ammeters are connected in a circuit. They also learnt how resistors are being used in real life in toasters, heaters, microwaves and remote controls.
