Principal News

Acting Principal Lora Segrave

While the year is moving to a close, the action and events at MCC continue to roll on.

This week the HSC exams came to a close after four weeks. We commend our students on the successful completion of their exams and look forward to celebrating with them at their Graduation this coming Friday.

Also last Wednesday, Year 11 Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences were held via zoom. Despite some technical difficulties, with a strong turnout of students and parents. I encourage all students to reflect upon the discussion with their teachers and make a plan to maximise their learning during the HSC year.

Business as usual includes, enrolment interviews for our 2023 Yr 7 cohort, preparation for the Year 7-10 reporting period, final touches for our Year 12 Graduation, the finalisation of our Year 12 Leadership team, the interviews and appointment of new staff and leadership positions for 2023 and of course the organisation of our final celebrations as a community in 2022, with our Youth Mass taking place on November the 20th as well as our final College Mass on the 13th of December.

In the coming weeks we will be visiting our feeder schools to liaise with their Year Six teachers and Inclusive Education teams. This will provide us with the opportunity to create informed class lists for 2023 but also works in line with our extensive transition program, where we endeavour to know all of our students before they arrive to commence Year 7.

Following on from this, we are excited to host our ‘Oh Day’ Transition session on Friday 25th of November. The students will be able to experience a day ‘in the life of Marian’ and visit various classes, work with their 2023 peer support leaders and meet key individuals that will play an important role in their schooling. Invitations were sent out last week, so we look forward to welcoming all of our new students then.

Yours in learning,

Lora Segrave
