Year 6 Term 4

Personal Note

Final Term Of Primary School For Our Year 6s!

Term 4 is always a busy and fun-filled time of year for Year 6. We have excursions to the Shrine and Science works/Planetarium, Remembrance Day ceremony, camp at Phillip Island Adventure Resort, School Concert evening, Graduation celebrations and the Big Day Out!

We look forward to celebrating the end of the Year 6 students’ BNPS journey with you!

Literacy

Reading

Students will continue to read, interpret and respond to a wide range of rich literature in class and for Homework. They will analyse these texts and support interpretations with evidence drawn from the text.

They will use a range of approaches to spelling, following the SMART Spelling approach and applying morphemic knowledge and an understanding of visual and phonic patterns.

They will employ a variety of strategies for writing, including note-taking, using models, planning, editing and proofreading.

Numeracy

Having moved on from the number strand in Semester 1, Level 6 students will now continue working on the Measurement, Space and Chance and Data strands.  During the semester the students will have opportunities to work on more investigative and hands on activities related to these strands, such as data collection and representation (surveys, graphs).
