Our SWPBS focus: Be Friendly

Our final SWPBS focus for 2022 is Be Friendly, with an emphasis on ensuring students have an open and positive mindset heading into our step up day on Tuesday. We want our students to be willing and eager to get to know new members of their class for 2023. All students will have nerves to varying degrees and we can reduce that sense of nervousness by encouraging our students to be positive and do the following:

  • Be open minded. All the students and staff at our school are fantastic and the class you move into will eventually become normal and feel comfortable.
  • Think back to this time last year. How were you feeling about your new class then? How do you feel now? Chances are any nerves are a distance memory and you're comfortable in your current class. Next year will be the same.
  • Use your voice. Say hello and be friendly to your new teacher and classmates. By saying hello you're breaking the ice and helping others (and yourself) feel comfortable.
  • Smile. Smiling is proven to make us and others feel comfortable and happy.
  • Be polite and respectful. People are drawn to other kind, considerate people.
  • Be positive. 2023 will be great and there are countless friendships to be made.
  • Live in the moment. Although we're beginning to think about 2023, there are still lots of positive things to focus on for the remainder of this year.
