Year 5 Spotlight

Year 5 Spotlight

In Year 5, we have continued to enjoy our learning across all parts of the curriculum. In Reading, we’ve been listening to The Long Walk to Walk and discovering the hardships of Salva and Nya’s experiences in South Sudan in the 1980s and early 2000s respectively. In Social and Emotional Learning, we have further explored the ideas of consent through the text Kit and Arlo Find Away

Alternate Sports continues to bring enthusiasm to the gym on a Friday morning. This term, we have a six-week Table Tennis program which emphasises trying your best and having fun in sports. A big thanks and acknowledgement to our PE Teacher Geoff for making these programs happen.

Writing – Poetry

Not only have we been winning down the line on the table tennis tables, but we’ve been winning across the pages too – with our Poetry.

Over the last few weeks, we have read and written; haikus, cinquains, odes, ballads, tankas, and even a few cheeky limericks! We have even linked our poem writing with our Get Up, Stand Up, Show Up First Nations Inquiry learning.

Here are a few fine examples of Year 5 poets and of some of the posters we have created for our Darebin Yarning Conference.
