Celebrating the work of our School Captains and Senior Student Representative Council

On Monday 5 December, a morning tea was planned to recognise the work done by our School Captains and Prefect body.  We were very fortunate to indulge in some beautiful food made by our Year 11 Hospitality students.  We look forward to continuing to recognise and celebrate student teams and groups across the school in this way.

A huge thank you to Ms Melissa Marando for coordinating this enjoyable celebration of leadership and teamwork.

Year 7 2023 Orientation Day

On Tuesday 29 November,  we hosted our Orientation Day for 204 Year 6 students enrolled to attend our school next year.

Our Year of 2028 Year Advisers planned a range of team building, wellbeing, and mini high school style lessons to further prepare students for their exciting High School journey.

The activities that students took part in included the Cecil Hills High School Amazing Race, making their own terrariums, engaging in a fun Science experiment, an interactive computer lesson, as well as creating a delicious and decadent chocolate treat. The feedback we received from our Year 7 2023 students was overwhelmingly positive and they are all very excited to be joining the Cecil family next year.

Thank you so much to our wonderful Year 7 2023 Advisers Miss Amy Shannon and Miss Priya Kumar and all the Cecil Hills High School staff who work so hard to uphold our Cecil school values and make events like this happen.

Year 10 Cables Wake Water Park

On Tuesday 29 November, several of our year 10 students ventured out to Cables Wake Water Park. Students enjoyed the day, and many said that it was “definitely the most fun you can have on the water in Western Sydney”! The Aqua Park consists of massive inflatable slides, obstacles, wake boarding facilities, runways, jumping pillows and many other indescribable structures. Thank you to Mr Andrew Faga and Miss Vivian Phan for their coordination and organisation of such a rewarding day for our Year 10 students.

Congratulations

Congratulations to the Top Three award recipients in Year 10 for 2022.

They are extremely hard-working and well deserved recipients.

Year 10 2022!  The year that was

Year 10s have had a very busy and productive year. We started off the year preparing students for Year 11 & 12 subject selections whilst also assisting students transition into appropriate apprenticeships. We successfully ran the first Father's Day Breakfast BBQ at Cecil Hills High School with students coming to school and assisting as early as 7:00 am in the morning.

To further support our cohort's development into their next phase of their lives the Careers Team organised work experiences for all students during Week 9 of this term. There were a variety of work placements that will help guide our students' decision making for future pathways.

CAPA (Creative and Performing Arts) students performed and showcased their many talents and efforts they have worked on all year in our CAPA Showcase. We also invited Batyr Australia (Batyr is a ‘for purpose’ preventative mental health organisation, created and driven by young people, for young people) to conduct an informative session about mental health and strategies to assist our Year 10 students during times of distress. To end the year and celebrate Year 10’s many achievements, students went on a Rewards Day to Cables Wake Park.

I would like to commend all Year 10 students for achieving their Record of School Achievement and look forward to supporting them in the next two years of their future studies and development. I hope you all have a safe and very Merry Christmas and that your holidays are filled with fun and adventure!
