Welcome to Year 11 VCE for 2023

Step up has now began and your child has now completed their first 2 weeks of VCE subjects and content. It is an expectation that all students complete allocated coursework during this time and complete holiday homework required for each subject. On the return after the holiday break all VCE students will take part in verification tests.

The purpose of the verification tests are to:

  • Identify the level of your child and to put in place extra supports for those who may need it
  • Determine who had/had not completed their holiday homework
  • And/or, to identify students who were showing a lack of commitment to their VCE studies

If a student receives less than 60% on their verification test in more than 2 subjects, a meeting will be organised by the Year Level Leaders with the child and parent/guardians to put in place a support plan or provide an alternative pathway that will best support them in achieving success.

Equipment Required for VCE

For the best start into Year 11 VCE, it is really important that your child has all the equipment required to enhance their learning opportunities. Your child will need textbooks, a laptop, CAS calculator (if completing any Maths subjects) Edrolo subscription (only required for some subjects) as well as workbooks. We know that this can be a financial burden on families so please contact the college if you require any assistance.

Use of Compass

Compass is a tool that we use to communicate with parents. Via compass, parents can access students’ progress, attendance, progress reports (published every 3 weeks) and upcoming assessment tasks scheduled on the College Calendar. If you do not have a compass login you can contact college reception for your compass details.

VCE Attendance Requirements

As your child has now started their VCE journey, it is important that they meet the 95% attendance requirements. This ensures that students’ work can be authenticated by teachers and that students do not fall behind in their studies. If a student is absent on a school assessed coursework day (Scheduled SAC) they must provide a medical certificate. All SAC dates and times can be accessed via compass on the senior school calendar, please be aware that some of these SACs occur afterschool.

VCE Supports

There are many additional study opportunities available to students in senior school. We have period 0 classes to support as well as homework club on a Wednesday afternoon. We hope that students take the initiative and attend these extra sessions.  We also understand that this can be a stressful time for your child, so please don’t hesitate to contact us or your child’s home group teacher for support.

NORTHERN TERRITORY CAMP 2023

Year 11 Camp 2023 ‘12 day best of the Red Centre’ includes express bus to Alice Springs coach transfers throughout the tour, experienced coach caption, flight home, food (on tour), accommodation and entry fees to: Royal flying doctors, school of the air, Alice Springs Desert Park, Standley Chasm, Litchfield National Park and Camels Australia.
