Celebrating Success in 2022

Our final full week of term was a big one!

First came our VCE results for 2022. I will be the first to admit that we were all a bit nervous!

We knew our students were determined, we watched them persist when things were hard, we saw their passion to achieve grow and supported them as their outcomes improved across the year.

What we didn’t know was how the disruption of a pandemic, spanning three years, would impact on their final results. This makes what they achieved  nothing short of amazing!

This week CESC was listed (in the Age) as the 6th best-performing non-selective government school in the state.

  • A median study score of 33 (+1)
  • 10.6% (+1.2%) of study scores over 40.
  • 11% of students with an ATAR over 90.
  • 47+% of students with an ATAR over 80.

Our College Dux, Jasleen K, achieved the outstanding ATAR of 99.15. This is the highest score of any CESC student to date. She did so with a perfect score of 50 in Legal Studies, 48 in English and 46 in Psychology. Jasleen is a credit to her family and our school. She navigated her College Captain duties alongside her studies and never missed a beat. Jasleen plans to undertake a double degree at Monash University. We can’t wait to see what she achieves next.

These outcomes don’t happen by accident. They are the result of many years of hard work by the whole college community.

Our students, in all year levels, are lucky to be supported by such an amazing team of teachers and support staff. We have, without a doubt, many of the best teachers and support staff in the state.

Awards Night (7-11)

This week we also celebrated our Awards Night at Bunjil Place. This is the first time we have taken the celebration off campus and it was an amazing success. Our hosts and outgoing College Captains, Jasleen and Tashana did an amazing job guiding us through the program and highlighting the achievements of our students. We celebrated academic achievement and growth alongside our RGAR awards and special awards.

I was proud to present the inaugural Principal’s Awards to three outstanding students from CESC. Each of these students demonstrate the values of our college both in their learning and behaviour, they have excellent academic outcomes and attendance and have contributed to the college beyond the classroom. They are all amazing role models within our community.

Junior School: Zohal N

Middle School: Layla C

Senior School: Sana F

We enjoyed 3 amazing performances on the night. The Year 9 Band, Adithya’s solo performance and an encore performance from Matilda the Musical.

At the end of the night Jasleen and Tashana announced our 2023 College Captains Fatima R, Adithya P. they then handed over the reins (and blazers), allowing them the final say as we closed out the evening.

There is no doubt they have big shoes to fill, I’m confident they are up to the task.

Our 2023 College Captains will be supported by our Vice Captains, Alessandra C and Ethan M. In addition, for the first time they will also be supported by an Executice Committee: Flourish A, Lena M.S, Susan M and Annaleigh P.

I look forward to working with the whole team in 2023.
