A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL

Hi Everyone,
Just a quick reminder about student safety. It has been bought to my attention that parents who drive their students to school are coming into the car park while the buses are still there. This is really dangerous as students have been let out of cars and then have to weave between cars and buses to access the school building. Buses have quite poor visibility and our students are small, it is a foreseeable accident waiting to happen.
Another parking issue is that some parents/carers are entering the carpark not only while the buses are here but by the exit gate. We have tried to make the car park safe by creating a one-way road around the turning circle and out the gate nearest the hydrotherapy pool but cars are coming in the wrong way and blocking traffic.
In the afternoon parents are doing a great job of waiting until the buses have left and then entering the turning circle to pick up their children. We all need to follow the rules to keep our children safe.
This year we are celebrating Education Week with talking about the future and what we can do when we leave school. The main activities will take place this week in each of the sub schools. The setting of goals is a great way to start along the path of planning for the future. Therefore, it is timely to remind families and carers to please attend our upcoming SSG’s.
The term two meetings focus on goal setting and this year we want as many students involved in the meetings as possible. The students who can, need to be involved in the setting of their personal goals. Student voice and agency is a major focus of our new strategic plan and in coming months and years we will be focusing heavily on how we can more fully involve our students in making our great school even better. Their involvement in SSG’s is a step in the right direction.
Cheers Sue.
