NAPLAN 2021

In May 2021, Level 3 and Level 5 students took part in the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN). Secondary school students also take part in Years 7 and 9.

NAPLAN is a point-in-time assessment that allows parents to see how their child is progressing in literacy and numeracy against the national standard and compared with their peers throughout Australia. At the classroom level, NAPLAN provides additional information to support teachers’ professional judgement about student progress.

Students completed assessments in the areas of:

  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Language Conventions (Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation)
  • Numeracy

Each year level results are reported against six bands.

  • Year 3 student reports show bands 1–6. The national minimum standard is band 2.
  • Year 5 student reports show bands 3–8. The national minimum standard is band 4.

I am pleased to advise that our results across all areas are very strong, well above state and national results. Due to COVID19 restriction, NAPLAN did not place in 2020, however when comparing out 2021 results to 2019, students achieved just as well or better. Congratulations to all students that took part.

Reports on individual student performance for 2021 were sent to the school. Due to the current COVID19 restrictions, they have been mailed out to families and should be received by the end of term.

Please be aware that we are only issued with one copy of the Individual Student Report to send to families. We highly recommend that you keep them in a safe place for future reference as the school does not receive a copy.
