The vacancy has been advertised and the process completed early next term. All enquiries about this position to myself or our Business Manager Colleen Stavrakis.

Parent Payment Contributions

Each year parents are asked for contributions to assist the school provide rich  well resourced programs and maintain indoor and outdoor learning and play spaces for all levels. These programs include English and Mathematics as the core curriculum as well as the specialist and interest areas like Visual Arts, Music, PE, Digitech and Flora and Fauna. Student wellbeing programs have been invested in and explicitly taught.

The grounds are maintained and improvements like the outdoor learning areas and playgrounds with parent contributions and fund raising.

As a school we have been able to see projects through like the library and STEM room upgrade and the additional deck are outside the library because of parent payments. So thank you.

School Review

Our school review finishes this week with the Panel Day -the setting of the goals and targets for the next 4 years. Leslie Tulloch is the allocated reviewer. The Challenge Partners are Julie Crawford and Lisa Rankin, both are principals at schools that we have worked with over the review period, Julie at Wonga Park PS and Lisa at Yarra Junction PS.

We have had the initial meeting with Leslie Tulloch to outline the review and we are keen to stay with these set dates and therefore we had to be remote as you are aware.

The review dates are:

  • Validation Day: 26/8
  • Field Day 1: 3/9
  • Field Day 2: 6/9
  • Panel Day: 13/9

At the School Council September meeting, I will share the School Review documentation from the Panel Day and feedback about the teachers, support staff, student and parent forums from the two Field Days. Thank you to the parents and students who spoke about our school from their perspective. The panel was impressed by how well our learners are able to articulate their learning and having a growth mindset to overcome the challenges.

The goals and key improvement strategies will be included. This will be reflected in the School Strategic Plan for 2022-2025. This new plan will presented to our council in term 4 for approval.

Staff have contributed to the 5 highlights during the School Strategic Plan period:

  1. Teaching Practice: Writer’s Workshop Instructional Model
  2. Student Agency: Introduction of Portfolios and Student Led Conferences
  3. Innovation: Seesaw and Remote and Flexible Learning
  4. Student Wellbeing: Rights, Resilience, Respectful Relationships
  5. Student Wellbeing: Rights, Resilience, Respectful Relationships

NAPLAN Data

The release of the 2021 NAPLAN data coincided with our school review. The results are excellent as you expect from Rangeview as deemed a High Performing School. Teachers had worked with our students in preparation for the assessment in May and students have shown overall excellent growth. Results have been similar to 2019 or in some cases better. All results are better than State and reflect Similar Schools results.

The overall NAPLAN results for Victoria has been very strong and I believe that this is testimony to the families supporting their children’s home learning as best as they could. It is a team effort so thank you to the students, teachers, support staff and our families.

NAPLAN is a nation-wide assessment for students in year 3, 5, 7 and 9. It is one example of data that our school looks at to review student learning. This year we could view data from year 5 to year 7 to track the learning growth of students that moved to Vermont SC. There had been levels maintained or improved from year 5 to year 7 results. Again very pleasing results.

Library Upgarde

New tables are some of the finishing touches to our library, following paint, carpet, additional walls and shelving on wheels since April. The space is looking very inviting and I do hope we are all back to enjoy this as soon as possible.

Planning For the Future Survey

Billy Carts, Footy Colours, Wellbeing

Last Week of term 3: we will be finishing the term with a Wellbeing Day with a touch of billy cart fun as is the tradition at Rangeview. Don't forget the helmets and other safety equipment. Enjoy the last week of term 3 and a reminder that Friday finishes at 2:30pm. So have a well deserved break from Seesaw, WebEx, Kahootz and every other school platform or APP.

Be safe and enjoy the break and be kind to yourself because whatever you can do is enough. Rest assured that I will send information out to families about term 4 when schools are notified.
