From the Heads of Secondary

Calrossy 7 - 9
Term 3 was certainly different to what we had expected. During the first few weeks with regular school, several remarkable things happened. We had some significant House challenges during this time where fun and house participation were vital hallmarks. It was great to see such enthusiasm from the students as they competed in various challenges against other houses.
Upon going into the lockdown that lasted longer than initially anticipated, I was incredibly proud of how both staff and students responded to the change. Students continued to engage in quality online learning despite the challenges involved. It is a testament to the resilience of our community the way this was handled.
During the lockdown, students were able to engage in some challenges of a different kind, with a trick shot, bottle flip and cutest pet picture all part of the fun. It was nice to have many of our students back on site for the final week and see their energy from being together again. I hope that all in our community can have some form of break over the holiday period, though our thoughts and prayers are with those who are still in lock down. Stay well. Blessings.
Rev Stephen Price, Head of Calrossy 7 - 9
Senior Secondary
Hello everyone,
Year 11 have shown great determination and resilience to complete their Preliminary HSC examinations online. Thank you to the staff who have organised and completed supervision and scanning for this complicated procedure. Congratulations to the newly appointed leaders in Year 11 and best wishes to those who have nominated for the House Captain and Boarder Prefect roles that will be elected next term.
Amid the challenges of lockdown it has been wonderful to see the completion of a variety of HSC Major projects and performances. Congratulations to the students who completed Art major works and the designers and builders of the Industrial Technology works. Drama students have worked hard and after an intense rehearsal schedule they produced moving performances on Wednesday, to the delight of their online audience. Music students major performances will be completed on Thursday and Friday of this week. Congratulations to all of the staff and students for persisting through difficult circumstances to show their creativity and skill.
Year 12 have responded well to the necessary but difficult changes to their schedule and are persisting admirably, receiving feedback and results from their Trial examinations and continuing to prepare for the HSC examinations which will now begin on November 9, 2021. A schedule has been sent to all Year 12 Parents and Students and involves Year 12 being present on campus for Weeks 2 & 3 of Term 4. (For more information see Secondary Notices). Details concerning Graduation and other Year 12 events will be updated next term as more information becomes available.
After a very challenging term we wish all of our families a restful and relaxing holiday break.
Kind regards
Dianne Cameron, Head of Senior Secondary
