Dear Parents and Guardians

I hope this weeks newsletter finds all families well. The announcement this week by the Premier to continue our current lockdown until September 2nd was difficult for students, teachers and parents.

Despite the difficulties that remote learning brings, I believe St Bede's families are strongly supported by our teachers and support staff, who are constantly working and reviewing how we go about facilitating remote learning. They are doing an amazing job to ensure the learning continues for our students.

A minimum of 200 google meets across the school are conducted weekly to touch base with and provide teaching instruction or feedback for our students.

Confirmation

As you were aware the celebration of the sacrament of Confirmation was to have taken place this week for our students in Yr 6. This has been postponed until the St Bede's church is allowed to have a congregation of 100 people. We will keep you informed, once we know, of the dates for Confirmation.

Swimming

This week you would have received an Operoo notification regarding our swimming program scheduled for the last week of Term 3. We are being optimistic so I ask that you please complete the form. If we are to come out of lockdown on the 2nd September, we are hoping that the fact that we would be the only school using the pool during that time, we can proceed.

Book Week "Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds"

Next week is BOOK WEEK. We ask that all students dress up as their favourite book character on Monday. At the morning meet each class will be able to show their classmates their favourite book character. Parents and siblings you can also be part of the fun!!!!!! I think I simply fit into the Old World part of the theme!!!!!!!

Permits

I ask that parents requesting onsite supervision please provide a copy of your permit.

(thank you to those who have). Below are the two categories allowed for onsite supervision.

Category A

Children where both parents and or carers are considered authorised workers who cannot work from home, work for an essential provider and where no other supervision arrangements can be made.
Where there are two parents/carers, both must be essential workers, working outside the home in order for their children to be eligible for on-site provision.
For single parents/ carers, the essential worker must be working outside the home in order for their children to be eligible for on-site provision.

Category B

Children experiencing vulnerability, including:

Deemed vulnerable by a government agency, funded family or family violence service, and assessed as requiring education and care outside the family home.
Identified by a school or early childhood service as vulnerable, (including via referral from a government agency, or funded family or family violence service, homeless or youth justice service or mental health or other health service)
Where a parent/carer indicates that a student with a disability is vulnerable because they cannot learn from home, and/or informs the school the student is vulnerable due to family stress, the school must provide on-site supervision for that student. This may apply to students enrolled in specialist schools and students with a disability enrolled in mainstream schools.
