Catholic Identity

Mercy Prayer

We pray for the Sisters of Mercy, who established our school and for the priests who have served at St. Mary’s.

It is through their vision,  determination and strong faith that we enjoy the benefits of a Catholic Education here in Mooroopna.

We are proud to be a Mercy School, where the values of love and justice are taught and lived every day.

Term Three - Week Ten

World Mission Month - October.

We support two Catholic organisations each year as part of our missioning towards others here at St. Mary’s Primary School - Caritas during Lent and Catholic Mission during October.

This year, as part of our Catholic Mission studies, students will learn about the missionary work of the Good Shepherd Sisters in Thailand who, through their Kindergarten Centre, are bringing about generational change to some of the poorest communities in Bangkok.

The Grade Six Social Justice Leadership team will organise a number of activities to promote the work of Catholic Mission during October. We will share information about the Catholic Mission society’s work each week at Assembly and promote our “Socktober” activity, to be celebrated on Tuesday, 26th October. The students will be invited to wear crazy socks and bring a gold coin donation in support of the work of Catholic Mission.

Celebration of the Sacraments, 2021.

Information regarding the celebration of the Sacrament of First Eucharist and the Sacrament of Confirmation for 2021 was shared with families last week.

Families have the choice of continuing the Sacrament of First Eucharist program in Term Four and selecting a weekend mass for their child to celebrate this sacrament when restrictions ease OR completing the Sacrament of First Eucharist program next year. There will not be a mass set aside for the First Eucharist celebrations.

Thank you to those families who have indicated their choice. A form will be sent out early Term Four to families who have not yet indicated their decision.

The First Eucharist program will continue each Friday from 12.30 - 1.30pm for those students involved.

Season of Creation

From September 1st (World Day of Prayer for Creation) to October 4th (Feast of St. Francis) each year, the Christian community celebrates the Season of Creation by praying and acting together to protect our common home. The season is celebrated by tens of thousands of Christians around the world annually.

Catholic Earthcare is encouraging all schools, parishes and individuals to take action during the Season of Creation and to inspire others by sharing actions on social media using the hashtag #act4ourcommonhome

Our first Prayer for our school assembly in Term Four will centre around the theme of “Creation.”

Thanking you,
