MUSIC

We are not letting lockdown stand in the way of Music. As they say in the industry: the show must go on! And it does. I thank our staff, students and families for their fast and flexible adaptation to online music learning. Our way strategy for online music lessons is as follows:

Private lessons:

All instrumental lessons are taking place via Google Meet. Meet links are found on the banner of each instrumental teacher’s Google Classroom. Lesson times are in Compass. Students and parents who wish to change their lesson time because of commitments to other Meets, should contact their instrumental teacher to do so.

Year 7 Beginner Program and Stage 4 Encore Practical Lessons:

These are taking place via Google Meet. The link to lessons is posted in the Classroom Stream on the day of your practical lesson.

Ensembles:

Senior Strings, String Sinfonia, Band and Stage Band

Playalong resources for rehearsals have been posted. I ask all students in these ensembles to use this lockdown time to practice their parts and play along with the practice videos.

Junior School Musicians:

K - 2 piano students have video play along lessons posted in Google Classroom.

Year 3/4 Strings: Is happening every Friday online. Check your Google Classroom for details

Year 5/6 Band: Is happening every Tuesday online. Check your Google Classroom for details

Years 7 and 8 Music:

Those of you who have a keyboard, ukulele or guitar at home can use the Yousician app to learn songs, chords and scales. This is a great app, with good free features. A lockdown treat could be to go premium and really start learning more about your instrument.

Those of you without an instrument: practical play alongs in bucket drumming and composition have been placed in your Google Classrooms. These are fun and funky, and good for your co-ordination.

Elective Music:

What a great time to practice! Skill up and be maestros when we return to face to face schooling.

REMEMBER: A little bit of music each day is important for your brain development and emotional wellbeing. So crank up the stereo, pull out the hair brush, grab an instrument, open a DAW, and play, sing, dance, or compose some music as part of your lockdown routine.

Every day, add some music to your lockdown routine.
