COLLEGE ADVISORY COUNCIL

The role of the St Joseph’s College Advisory Council is crucial to the smooth running and long-term planning of the college. The Board is comprised primarily of the College Executive and parent representatives. Members of the Board meet six times during the year.

Due to the resignation of Mr Greg Leslie, Advisory Council Chair, we are now accepting expressions of interest for 2021 Advisory Council positions by close of business Thursday December 11. Individuals who require more information are asked to contact Ms Danielle Virgona, Executive Assistant to the Principal via email or (03) 5018 8000.

St Joseph’s College would like to take this opportunity to thank and acknowledge Mr Greg Leslie’s contributions to the Advisory Council over the course of several years and wish him well in his future endeavours.

Greg has been fulsome in his praise and thanks, stating that "As I move on, I leave in the comfort of knowing the college and community are in good shape.  The college’s response to recent events, the way it has adapted without hesitation to provide an environment for our students to thrive, to be supported, valued and heard is impressive. It’s also no fluke. The ability to seamlessly implement practices and processes quickly... is the result of vision, structure and a clear commitment to the values of St Joseph’s College.

For the manner in which St Joseph’s has functioned in 2020, I commend the leadership and staff. However, as I reflect over my years on the Advisory Council, it is clear that 2020 was successful because of hard work and decisions undertaken over many years. The college is professionally and compassionately led and that reverberates right down the line. There is a strong sense of clear and deserved pride within St Joseph’s. We attract admiration and respect from the community at large – and dare I say it even envy from some. I am proud to have served on the Advisory Council and consider myself fortunate to act as Chair over a period of great transformation...

To my Advisory Council colleagues, current and past, thank you for your time, commitment, honesty and expertise. We all sit around that table for varying reasons, have different lived experience, circumstances, backgrounds and a host of other variables. But we share a common love for our children, a desire to make our community a better place and a willingness to make a positive contribution. There have been many of you over the years, you have all left your mark.

To Marg and the Leadership, thank you for your excellent work, for your willingness to listen and for the care you have shown our young adults.

For my colleagues who remain around the Advisory Council table, I wish you well with your future deliberations. I am confident you have the skills and attributes to steer St Joseph’s for ongoing success.

Yours sincerely

Greg Leslie"
