Congratulations Joel Whitcher and Andrea Thaithong. Winners in 2020!

This year, Nossal High School was very proud to have two of our VCE French students chosen as finalists in the annual Berthe Mouchette Competition run by the Alliance Française de Melbourne. In 2020, the competition attracted over 5,700 participants from 76 schools state-wide. Of all of the entrants, 619 reached the finals level.

All VCE students participating in the competition were required to engage in two elements, a general conversational task and the presentation of a theme, poem or an image, Additionally, students had to complete a written examination.

In what is a high-level languages competition, made a little more difficult in 2020 with the need to study and learn remotely, it is with great pleasure that I announce Andrea Thaithong (Year 11) as third prize winner in the oral competition category and Joel Whitcher (Year 12) as third prize winner in the written test division. Joel also received an honourable mention in the oral test.

Congratulations to both Joel and Andrea for their solid commitment to and passion for their language studies. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing health restrictions, the usual annual Awards Ceremony held at the St Kilda Town Hall will not go ahead this year.  Prizes and certificates will instead be presented by the school prior to the end of Term 4. Once again, félicitations!
