GetEpic: We will continue to use GetEpic this term for home reading. This includes the weekly allocation of four new books. Please encourage your child to read at home for 15 minutes at least four times a week. This will go a long way in supporting their reading development.

High Frequency Words: By the end of Prep, students are taught the first 200 high frequency words. Students should receive a weekly list of ten words to take home. They should practise reading their high frequency words at home at least four times a week alongside their weekly reading. Students are tested on their individual word list on a weekly basis and provided with a new list depending on their results.

If your child is particularly confident with the first 200 high frequency words, they are encouraged to:

-Spell the words independently.

-Identify and explore the meaning of challenging words in the books they read.
