A reminder that we have support available for students should anything get tough in the home. Our Wellbeing Coordinator, Ant Douglas, is on hand to give your child assistance. Here are the contact details.
Attending school each day is extremely important. We must continue to maintain high levels of attendance this term. We continue teaching up to the very last day! We do not want your children to be missing out of important learning.
If your child is absent, you need to provide an explanation to the school as a legal requirement. School will follow up with families who do not provide explanation with families. Please find the how to guide below:
Unfortunately due to COVID- 19, our 2020 camp cannot take place. Tess Duerden will be in touch to organise reimbursements for families who had students attending.
The school fees may look a little different for next year and that is due to the Department of Education and Training updating the Parent Payment Policy. School Councils are no longer required to produce their own policy and are to establish Parent Payment Arrangements instead. These are available on the school website (https://southmelbourneps.vic.edu.au/) along with the DET's Policy.
These payments will be live on Compass for payment next week so please wait for an email notification from our Business Manager, Tess Duerden when payment is available.

In 2020 South Melbourne Primary School introduced a School-Owned Device Program (SDP), where the school provides devices on a lease for all students in Grades 1 and 4. Students in these levels hold onto the devices for a 3 year life cycle. In 2021, the school will be continuing this program and providing all students in Grades 1 and 4 with a device, as we begin to phase out the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program. The devices can be paid for upfront payment or over three years as instalments. This is a ‘lease to return’ contract and all students will have to return their device to the school at the end of the three years. All families will have the option to buy out the Device at the end of the three years with a $50.00 fee.
