From the Principal & Assistant Principal

CONGRATULATIONS
Many congratulations to Mia Kristensen, Jaimie Major, Kiyani Sydnor and Kate Mahoney, our 12/13 girls relay team. Having won their relay at district level, they participated in the zone athletics last week, and took out first place! They will now be participating at state level on Monday. Well done and good luck!
WOORABINDA CAMP
Yesterday, a group of 19 girls and boys from our school, accompanied by three teachers, set off for Woorabinda Camp in Gippsland. Every two years, Year 4 and 5 students from our district have the opportunity to join this camp with many others from our district. It is similar to the Somers camp that is held for Years 5 and 6 students on the alternate year. The Woorabinda camp will go for five days, and I am sure the students will enjoy the great range of adventure activities.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Our teachers are continually being supported through professional development opportunities to improve their teaching practice and career path.
There are many formal courses that our staff are involved in. One of these is ‘Unlocking Potential: Principal Preparation Program’. Over the next few weeks we will be hosting a teacher from another school, Dianne Morwood, from Beaconsfield Primary School who will be ‘shadowing’ me and the leadership team, as we share practices and ideas between schools. Nerida Burns is going to Mount Waverley North Primary School as part of the same program, and working with the principal and staff there for the next two weeks. Sue Riley
also recently completed this program and
participated in an internship at Gardenvale Primary School.

EARN AND LEARN THANK YOU
Thank you to all the families who collected Earn and Learn stickers. Your efforts were greatly appreciated. We collected 36,000 points which allowed us to purchase science equipment, new sand pit toys, fabric for developmental play etc.
A big thank you to Katie Griffin, Lou Cooper and team for attaching many, many stickers to forms so we could claim our points.
