Parent Teacher Interviews

Thank you to all parents who “attended” the Parent Teacher Interview evenings appointments this term. The evenings ran quite smoothly, thanks to the patience and goodwill of many, many parents and teachers. It is always difficult to keep strictly to interview schedules when there are so many people involved with such brief meetings. Thank you for your co-operation if things for you didn’t run as smoothly as planned. I hope the evenings were helpful for you all in knowing how your child is doing in class and how they are being supported by our teachers.

Please feel free to contact teachers if you have any questions through the year about your child’s progress, and don’t forget to check in every week or so on the assessment details provided via My Aitken to keep up-to-date on assessment tasks and feedback.

End of Term 1: A Time for Reflection

The end of each term is a great time for some reflection for students. A few minutes spent thinking about what went well and what didn’t, can help to clarify what goals are needed for the next term. As students get older and approach adulthood, it becomes more and more important that they see themselves as the ‘drivers’ of their education journey – not the passengers! Their actions, their decisions, their organisational skills are what will shape their future success. Once your children have had a bit of time to rest and relax in the holiday break, you might want to work through these reflection questions with them.

  1. What aspects of Term 1 am I proud of?
  2. What went well this term? Why did these things go well? What did I do to help this happen?
  3. What did not go so well this term? What did I contribute to this? What would I like to do differently in these areas next term?
  4. What areas of my learning are on track? What do I need to do to continue this progress?
  5. What aspects of my learning would I like to improve? What could I do to make this happen? Who could help me achieve this?
  6. What goals do I want to set myself for next term?
