Captains’ Concert
The 2023 Captains’ Concert was a tremendous success, proving that we house many students who have exceptional singing, dancing and acting talents here at Aitken College. I am sure everyone who attended will agree that the evening was full of joy, pride and smiles as we watched students from Years 2 to 12 embrace the limelight, own the stage and put their best performance forward. As Head of Performing Arts, I certainly was extremely proud that night. It set a fantastic standard for the year ahead in the Performing Arts Calendar. The Performing Arts Captains Jasmine, Dekoda and Liam shone so brightly on the night. I cannot thank them enough for the amount of effort they put into organising the event. We raised well over our goal for the UNHCR, with attendees donating $928. Congratulations to all of the students who performed and assisted with the evening.

Year 10 Horror Films
Last Friday was the first round of filming the Year 10 productions for Horror Fest: a student horror film festival. Groups had the whole day to film original works where the entire process (scriptwriting, directing, acting) was completed by them. It was a fun but tiring day for many students as they organised their own schedules for shooting. It was great to see students getting really involved with their roles and a few teachers as well! We look forward to what the second semester’s films will look like and to watching the final productions. If last year is anything to go by, it should be a blast!
