Chaplain's Corner

The angel spoke to the women, “Do not be afraid, I know you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; he has been raised, just as he said. Go quickly now and tell his disciples. He has been raised from death and now is going ahead to Galilee ahead of you; there you will see him. Remember what I have told you!” So they left the tomb in a hurry, afraid and yet filled with joy and ran to tell his disciples. - Matthew 28:5-8

Last week we celebrated “Palm Sunday” in chapel with the crowds rejoicing in their recognition of Jesus coming as the messiah, the anointed one. The crowd yelled Hosanna, blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Children waved Palm branches as we re-enacted what it might have been like.

This week we celebrated Easter with a retelling of the stories of Holy Week. Starting with the last supper in the upper room with Jesus and his 12 disciples. Praying in the garden of Gethsemane, being betrayed by Judas and arrested by the temple guards. Convicted falsley by the high priests of the temple and sentenced to death by Pontius Pilate, the Roman Governor (who washed his hands of any part of that decision, being swayed by the rebellios crowds).  Jesus' death on the cross and burial in a tomb. The women found an empty tomb 3 days later on the Sunday morning and were sent away to tell the disciples that Jesus had risen, just has he said. Hallelujah, praise the Lord.

We were blessed by Songsters (Fairview & Cumberland), Preps (Fairview) and Stephen Stavrou (Dunhelen and Brookhill) who each offered praise to God in song.

Christ is risen and we are all offered new life in Jesus.

Happy Easter Blessings!
