Closing the Gap

Young men shine in showcasing their culture and help close the gap.

A small group of our Bairnsdale Clontarf Academy members performed four different dances for an event at our local hospital for Closing the Gap. They only had a short amount of time to practice and learn these dances and they did an amazing job. They did so well that they have been offered to dance at East Gippsland Shire for an upcoming event. The boys parents and Clontarf mentors were super proud of their performance. The boys would like to thank Phillip Solomon (Noop) and Adrian Morgan (Ringo) for presenting this opportunity and teaching them the traditional dances.

STOP IT

The Bairnsdale Clontarf Academy members take positive steps for their future by ticking off all the boxes to pass their Traffic Control Course.

Three academy members completed a two day Traffic Management Coarse at Gippsland TAFE.  Completion of the certificates provides members essential skills and knowledge to ensure the safety of road users, traffic controllers and fellow workers. They are absolutely stoked with the outcome as it's a great opportunity to start their employment journey and earn some income and provide for themselves. Year 12 academy member Riley Hood has a family connection and real interest in joining GTAC in the future and this certificate certainly helps that pathway.

We would also like to congratulate them on their efforts and thank the staff down at Gippsland TAFE for supporting them through this course.
