Co-curricular

Supporters' Duty

I write to commend our Year 6 cohort for the excellent manner in which they supported both the First XI and First XV Football. The unbridled enthusiasm certainly added a great deal to the day and our teams truly appreciated their cheering. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Locke, Mr Stephenson and the numerous Junior School teachers who came out to supervise the boys.

A reminder that Year 8 have been designated Supporters’ Duty on Saturday 27 May. All boys are to report to the Powell Pavilion between 1:00 PM and 1:15 PM dressed in correct College sporting attire or Winter College uniform and have their names marked off. Once this has been completed, boys will move to SPC No. 3 to support the College First XI and await further instructions. Boys will be dismissed from Breen Oval at the conclusion of the First XV game; approximate time is 4:50 PM.

Boys who are representing St Patrick’s in College fixtures played later in the day are to seek out their respective Year Coordinator upon arrival. These students will inform their Year Coordinator of what team they played in, the location of the fixture and the start time.

Injured Students and Uniform

As we enter the Winter Co-curricular season, unfortunately but inevitably there is an increase in the number of students who may be injured playing sport here at the College and at their outside ventures.  Can I please impress upon all parents/carers that students being out of normal full College uniform when injured should very much be the exception.  Students are required to be in their full College uniform even if injured.  The College would advise of two exceptions to this.

  • Firstly, if the student is physically unable to put their uniform on.  Students in ‘moonboots’ or with casts or in slings should still be in uniform unless this is physically impossible.

  • Secondly, if wearing the uniform presents a real risk of harm for the student.  Students who are unable to wear a shoe due to a sprain etc. and are on crutches should be in full College uniform with a black sock rather than their school shoe on the injured foot.  In the rare situation that a student needs to be out of uniform, please be aware that students must wear their FULL College tracksuit, Supporter’s (crested) black shorts, Supporter’s shirt, white socks and clean sandshoes. Any student who arrives out of uniform needs to present to their Year Coordinator with a note from their parents/carers explaining the need to be out of uniform, along with a medical certificate.  As indicated previously, this should be the rare exception.

Captains of Winter Co-curricular – 2023

I am pleased to inform the College community that Dr Lavorato appointed the following boys to Co-curricular leadership roles this winter:

  • Captain of Tennis – Felix Yeung
  • Captain of Debating – Matthew Svoboda
  • Captain of Football – Alessandro Romeo
  • Captain of Rugby – Bryn Williams
Felix, Matthew, Alessandro and Bryn.
Felix, Matthew, Alessandro and Bryn.

All four young men are to be congratulated on their appointments and at the same time be acknowledged for the wonderful contributions they have made to their chosen area of interest over several years. I am confident that these young men will not only lead their respective teams well, but they will also prove to be excellent ambassadors for the College and shining role models for our younger boys to follow.

Driver Needed

The College is seeking a suitably qualified driver who could assist with the transportation of the College’s sporting teams to training sessions off site of an afternoon. Suitable applicants should have the correct licence (Light Rigid) that would enable them to drive both the 24-seater and 14-seater mini-buses along with a current Working With Children Clearance number.

Interested parties should forward their expression of interest to Mr Calavassy and me via email at the following addresses by 3:00 PM Monday 15 May: anthony.clavassy@spc.nsw.edu.au and steven.fochesato@spc.nsw.edu.au.

Rugby News

Congratulations are extended to Mr Calavassy who was recently appointed as Coach of the NSW Juniors U18 First XV. We are lucky to have such a knowledgeable and passionate coach within our ranks.
