Year 10 Examination Block
The Year 10 Examination Block commences Monday 15 May and concludes Friday 19 May. The assessments are written examinations. The online HSC Minimum Standards tests in reading, writing and numeracy will also be scheduled within the Year 10 Examination Block.
The Examination Block timetable was emailed to the boys last week and is also available from the Year 10 CANVAS page. Students are reminded to note dates and times of their examinations. Students are also reminded to thoroughly familiarise themselves with the College’s Assessment Policy and Examination Rules posted on CANVAS at the beginning of the school year.
Ignorance of the College’s Assessment Policy or Examination Rules will not constitute a valid excuse and penalties will be incurred for breaches of policy or procedures.
In particular, in the event of absenteeism due to illness or misadventure during the Examination Block, parents/carers and boys are reminded that a telephone call to the Year 10 Coordinator, Mr Milheiro, must be made prior to 8:30 AM on the day of the examination. Where possible, the missed examination or a substitute examination will be arranged the week after the Examination Block period. Immediately on the boy’s return to school, a medical certificate for the illness/misadventure must be given to Mr Milheiro and a copy to the relevant Head of Department.
Year 11 Parent / Teacher Interviews and Student Academic Reports
By Friday 2 June, the Semester 1 Reports on students of Year 11 will be available online to parents/carers via the TASS Parent Lounge.
The Year 11 Parent/Teacher interviews will be scheduled for the evening of Monday 5 June from 3:40 PM to 9:00 PM. Parents/carers may book interview time slots themselves via the TASS Parent Lounge using the interview tab from 7:00 AM, Friday 26 May. The College will not be allocating interview times. Parents/carers need to ensure interviews are booked by no later than 5:30 PM, Friday 2 June.
All interviews will be conducted on site. Interviews are for seven minutes only. There is a three-minute break between each interview to allow the interviews to run smoothly. Please note that parents/carers cannot double book a teacher for a longer interview. Should more interview time be required, parents/carers may arrange with the teacher another mutually suitable time.
There is an expectation that parents/carers will book interviews with all of their sons’ teachers. There is also an expectation that students are present for the interviews.
For parents/carers encountering difficulties logging on to the TASS Parent Lounge, please contact the College’s IT Department via College Reception on 02 9763 1000.
If for any reason a parent/carer needs to cancel or change a booked interview time after 9:00 am Monday 5 June, please contact the relevant teacher via email.
The Semester 1 Report is an opportunity for parents/carers to discuss their sons’ progress but more importantly to discuss strategies and recommendations in preparing for the final Year 11 examinations commencing Monday 28 August.
I would like to encourage all Year 11 students to use their time wisely during the upcoming mid-year break and not let the time pass without having done substantial preparation for the Year 11 examinations.
This is a very important time for Year 11 students to constructively assess their progress in their senior studies thus far and to make the necessary adjustments and effort in preparation for a very demanding HSC year ahead in 2024.
