Student Leadership News

Looking Back:
The senior leadership team is very proud to have successfully run our first event for the week. Monday 11th to Friday 15th was MFG’s very own ‘Kindness Week’, an idea created by the leadership team to encourage kindness and love within our school community. It also ties in with the very first trait of our 11 MFG Way traits - being kind, compassionate and trustworthy. Being kind is something that the leadership team agreed upon as a trait that could be used to describe our group, so we decided that our first event of the year would be a week dedicated to being kind, compassionate and trustworthy, and spreading positivity around the school. The main premise of this week was our ‘compliment boxes’, one on each campus, in which people could anonymously write about a kind, compassionate or trustworthy act that they witnessed someone do. Or perhaps just write a nice compliment about a friend or peer. The team was very pleased with the numerous compliments that had been put in the boxes, from a very wide variety of year levels and students.
Looking Forward:
The leadership team is looking forward to our MFG Healthy Breakfast, which this year we have decided to put on International Women’s Day, on the 8th of March. We want to create a really positive, loving and healthy environment for our school community, and provide our students with a really nourishing breakfast that will fuel them for the day.
We are currently seeking food donations for this event; items such as bread, eggs, fresh fruit, spreads, milk, sugar and flour. If there are any businesses in the Geelong area who are willing to donate to our healthy breakfast, please get in touch with the school. Your donation would be much appreciated.
