RECOMMENDED?

Yes, to anyone who would like to explore how to use their voice healthily as a singer or as a teacher using their spoken voice. Estill Voice can not only be used for singers but also for anyone who wants to learn how to use their voice correctly and not have any vocal issues (especially teachers who use their voices all the time).

Delivering the MYP Curriculum Category 2 Design

14-16 January attended by Simone

Provider: IB Professional Development

Venue: Adelaide

ABOUT?

The PL session was a workshop that allowed staff from the same area (Design) to discuss and work through The Next Chapter. As all schools were already following The Next Chapter program it used a lot of new terminology that we were then exposed to. We wrote a Unit, completed an assessment task and shared ideas and resources.

As given to us in the agenda:

Workshop Goals:

- Enhance the understanding of the IB

  philosophy and programme model

- Improve the quality of programme delivery

Workshop Objectives:

In this workshop:

- Participants will make connections between

  the programme framework and practice

- Participants will enhance their understanding

of the role of assessment in IB programmes

- Participants will discuss and analyse

standards and practices appropriate to their

  role

- Participants will engage in discussion and

  activities aimed at sharing pedagogical

  techniques such as:

       - Best practice in the classroom

       - Teaching and learning methodologies

       - Finding, sharing, developing and using

         resources

PRESENTERS?

Matt Plummer

RESOURCES?

All links and information was available on a googledocs drive as well as Matt’s personal website. Also, we used The Next Chapter documentation.

RECOMMENDED?

I would if the person had already completed a Category 1 session in The Next Chapter MYP PL sessions. As we had not completed a Category 1 before the Category 2 it was a bit difficult to follow some of the sessions. The presenter advised us that we should attend Category 1 in future to allow us to follow up on parts of the sessions that we were unfamiliar with.
