Northern Territory Safari Tour

We are planning an exciting trip to the Northern Territory at the end of term 1 2018. The tour will depart by coach from the school on Friday 23rd March and return by air from Darwin on Thursday 5th April.
The trip will be of 14 days duration, with accommodation being mainly in tents at campgrounds, with a couple of nights spent in bunkhouse style accommodation. The cost of the tour includes all meals (apart from day 1 lunch and day 14 dinner), all camping equipment, including 2 man pyramid style tents and sleeping mats and entry fees to various sites and activities, coach transport and a one way flight from Darwin to Melbourne.
The tentative itinerary includes an overnight stay in Adelaide before we travel to Coober Pedy to have a town tour, visit an underground home and an opal mine. Accommodation for the night will be at an underground camp. From here we travel to Uluru for a two-night stay. We visit Uluru National park and undertake one of the educational programs available whilst learning about the local Anangu culture. We visit Kata Juta, another scenic wonder of the red centre.
From Uluru we travel to Kings Canyon, stay overnight and complete a walk around the spectacular sandstone cliffs, natural rock pools and lush vegetation that this area has to offer.
On our way to Alice Springs for a two-night stay, students can enjoy a short, guided camel ride. Whilst in the Alice, we visit some spectacular gorges, the Royal Flying Doctors service and are paid a visit by Rex the Snake man.
After leaving Alice Springs we head to Dunmarra and visit the Devils Marbles, a collection of huge, round, red coloured boulders near Tennant Creek. We also visit and bathe in the famous Mataranka Thermal Springs (subject to conditions).
A night is then spent at Nitmiluk campground, from where we embark on a 2-hour cultural dreaming cruise of Katherine Gorge.
From Nitmuluk we travel to Kakadu and the town of Jabiru for a two-night camp. We view the sunset at Ubirr Rock (subject to weather conditions) and enjoy a sunrise Yellow Waters cruise followed by a visit to the Bowali Visitor Centre. Students are also able to explore Nourlangie Rock to view some stunning Aboriginal rock art.
Leaving Kakadu we head to Darwin where we undertake a self guided tour of the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory and complete a city sights tour. Accommodation for the night is at the Lee Point Village Resort in cabin style rooms.
Our final day of the tour sees the group travelling to Litchfield National Park where students explore picturesque waterfalls and clear rock pools. For dinner we visit the Wharf area where students can explore and enjoy a meal at their own expense and catch a movie before a late night flight returns us to Melbourne.
The cost of this trip will be approximately $2285.00, depending on student numbers and price increases from the 2017 rates.
The trip will be open to students who will be in Years 10 and 11 in 2018.
If you are interested in this amazing trip, please return the expression of interest form below to Mrs Morgan by Wednesday June 14th. An information night will be held in the last week of this term when you will receive more information and will be able to ask questions about all aspects of the trip.
