9.15 Maths Class

This week Miss Pawley kindly allowed us into her classroom to see what her Year 9 Maths students (9.15) were up to.

The students were partaking in the topic of financial maths and studying concepts such as percentages and indices.

“We have been looking at Indices this week. We started learning about percentages and have been doing maths mate homework each week” – Zoe Leckie

“Indices can be used for electronics, sporting fixtures and engineers. I might use indices when I look up sporting fixtures or when I’m playing with my electronics” – Brendan Clark

“Indices are a number with a power. For example if you have am the a is called the base and the m is called the power”  - Holly Radcliffe

Today we have been learning about the third law of indices. It states that anything to the power of 0 is always equal to the power of 1” Hayley Holmes
