Debating Club

Debating club is held each week for students to improve their public speaking and debating skills.

In Term 2 we began competing in two virtual debating competitions - one for the Armidale Diocese and the other across Australia.

We have teams in stage 4, 5 and 6 divisions, and each week it is wonderful to see the students' skills improve.

Universities Tour

In the last week of Term 2, A group of Year 12 students attended the Tamworth and District Careers Advisor Network annual Northern Universities Tour. They travelled from Armidale to Brisbane for a three-night stay at the Women’s College of UQ. During the tour, they visited six universities and eight different campuses including The University of Queensland, Griffith University (Gold Coast and Mt Nathan), Queensland University of Technology, University of Sunshine Coast (Moreton Bay and Sippy Downs), Southern Cross University and Bond University. One of the attendees, Joseph Stanley said “The tour was an extremely eye-opening experience in both seeing and comparing the various universities of Southern Queensland, but also having the ability to sit with multiple careers advisors each night and discuss your career aspirations and future plans was extremely beneficial. It was also a great opportunity to mingle and socialise with students from around our district”. 

All of the students returned with new knowledge of courses, campuses and pathways in which they can achieve their career goals. I encourage all students in Year 10 or Year 11 to consider attending both the Northern Universities Tour and the Southern Universities Tour in 2022.
