Diversity Day

After spending many weeks planning, students in Years 9 and 10 from the –isms class were finally able to hold the Diversity Day mini-fete at school yesterday.

Student-run stalls provided information and fun activities which were enjoyed by all. The primary students particularly appreciated the colouring activities, whilst the diverse range of food was also a hit.

There were six stalls set up on the day. These celebrated the LGBTQ+ community, people with European heritage, Pacific Islander and Indigenous Australian cultures, multiculturalism and people with different abilities and disabilities. It is hoped that students came away from the festivities with some form of new knowledge about one or more of these groups, and about diversity at large.

Congratulations and thank you to all the students who assisted in the running of Diversity Day. From performing the live music, setting up and packing up and the baking and buying of scrumptious treats, to the creation of brochures and posters, the development of trivia and other engaging activities, and running the food stall with aplomb, the students did an amazing job. They should be as proud of their efforts as the staff are!

All in all, the school was able to raise $705 for Beyond Blue. This money will go towards helping Australians achieve their best possible mental health.

School Uniforms

The Purpose of the College Uniform is:

  1. To foster collective and individual pride in the College
  2. To create a sense of identification with the College
  3. To enhance individual student safety and  group security
  4. To engender self-discipline
  5. To create a sense of equality amongst the students
  6. To promote a positive image of our school in the community.

It has been great that most of our students come to school wearing the correct uniform every day with pride. It is an expectation that students are in full uniform and when this is not possible, a parent needs to provide a letter/message with an explanation of why, and when their child will be back in full uniform.

A reminder that only plain white or  plain black shirts/jumpers  are able to be worn under the school polo top or shirt, NOT HOODIES. Parents may be contacted by the school when there is an ongoing issue to try to rectify the concern.  Over the holiday break it would be great if families could use this time to ensure students are able to come to school in the correct uniform. Your support with this is much appreciated.

The official school uniform includes:

  • Wearing plain black bottoms with:
    • No meshing or transparent parts
    • Minimal branding (eg. a small, discreet logo)
  • Wearing official College upper-wear including:
    • Official Primary or Secondary jackets
    • Polar fleece jumpers
    • Knit jumpers (secondary)
    • Year 10 Rugby Tops

Donation

Today the school received a kind donation of 20 basketballs from Nigel and Kelly Nowak from Highgrove Bathrooms. Our school leaders Indi and Mathias happily accepted the basketballs from Nigel and can't wait to use them during recess and lunch.  A big thank you to Nigel and Kelly.
