Principal's Report

Thoughts from our Acting Principal - Mrs Karen Jagers

Dear Parents and Carers

It is exciting to be in Glen Innes, being part of the St Joseph's Catholic Professional Learning Community. Retiring at the end of 2019, I could have never imagined a Covid world, let alone working in a school environment with so many restrictions, as are your work places and lives. We recognise these are not easy, however, please bear with us as we, St Joseph’s School, implement the Level 2 required restrictions for regional areas. The school applies instructions from the Catholic Schools Office which takes its advice from NSW Health.

Yesterday, at entry/exit gates, while maintaining my distance and wearing my mask, I was able to quickly show my presence and say hello to some of our parents. I have now had the opportunity to visit all students in their learning spaces and introduce myself, sharing some brief snippets of information about myself and family. Following that, an opportunity for a couple of questions was given. Of course the questions ranged, however to date, the most memorable was an  inquiry around whether I am being paid to do this job. Well, the answer is yes!

This newsletter contains a copy of the COVID Parent/Carer CSO letter, distributed to our community on 9 July. Please see the letter on the last page of today's newsletter. A few items to be aware of in particular are:

Pick Up Procedure

The current COVID-19 restrictions have resulted in the implementation of the following pick up procedures. Parents should:

  • Maintain physical distancing by avoiding gathering outside of school gates and we encourage you to wear a face mask;
  • Remain outside the school grounds for pick up and drop off; and
  • When entering the school for an approved purpose, please follow mask wearing requirements and sign in using the Service NSW QR code

Parents Entering School Grounds

For the purpose of a specific need to meet with school staff, an appointment is required. QR code, social distancing and masks will be essential.

I look forward to meeting more of the parent/carer, grandparent community over the term, hopefully in an unrestricted manner.

Best wishes and God’s blessings.
