SIS Weekly Sport Term 2
Intermediate Boys’ Football Team
2021 has seen many interruptions and disruptions, and the season of the Intermediate Boys’ Football Team was no exception. Due to the forfeit of teams due to events at their schools, and finally a COVID-19 lockdown, the boys only had two games.
That did not mean, however, that it was a wasted season. One of the features of the season is that Nazareth’s team were lacking players from Year 10. As a result, the team consisted of boys mostly from Year 9, playing against teams that consisted mostly of bigger, stronger Year 10s. The boys enjoyed themselves in training and pitted themselves against teams from St Peter’s Cranbourne and Flinders College that featured larger players. That did not stop their desire to match up and put in every effort against their opponents. There may have not been the sound of a team song at the end of games, but there was a never surrender and fight until the end attitude amongst the team throughout.
Standing out performers through the two games were the captain Dion Ferraro, who was constantly matched up against taller opponents, but that did not stop him from getting the ball out of tight, contested situations and leading the plays; Matt Monet starred in the ruck; Sebastian Cannata was a halfback that never gave up; Luca Palermo demonstrated that soccer skills can transfer very well to Australian Football. Also of note from the Year 9 players were Tyson, Arapo and Ayden. The Year 8s who also shone were Will and Judd. It was a pleasure and honour to coach the team, and hope that 2022 will feature fewer interruptions, as well as bigger and stronger Year 10s.

Woodwork
Hello! I am Tony and I'm building a boat called The NT-21a Mudcarp!
This is a boat I designed. I was inspired by grandpa's fishing boat! It was a traditional wooden hull 15 x 5metres, and my dad described it stating that 'the piston head was like the size of my face'. It had a huge inboard diesel engine. Unfortunately, Grandpa’s boat crashed after the Vietnam war, but these stories of the boat stuck with me, as it was like a legendary vehicle that once existed.
Here I am, sitting in my boat applying pva glue to the stringer to hold its shape.
I guess there's a nature in us to imitate things you see and hear; I'm no different. I never really got told how things work or how to use them, but if you break enough things, you will understand your mistake.
Here are the two prototypes ‘Varsh’ and ‘Kelppy’ that helped to develop the NT-21. This is proof that you don't take perfect steps the first time. As you can see, ‘Varsh’ actually sank.
And of course I can't do this without my mates and Mr Brown, who is letting me do this crazy project.
