Deputy Principal Staff and Students Report

Return to School
It has been wonderful to have students back at school. After the time at home learning students returned last Wednesday and were happy to be back, but we sensed a little tired after a change in routine and a need to get up a little earlier. We are hoping now to get settled into some time of face to face learning, please God, for the rest of the term.
With the days lost from face to face classes we have had to reschedule a number of events and adjust our calendar as we try and keep key school events, while also trying to have as much face to face class time as possible. It is a difficult balance with less time than planned. Below is a list of some key dates looking ahead:
- Mass for Social Justice, Monday 2 August 2021: Will be rescheduled.
- Production: To be advised as restrictions change.
- GAT: Rescheduled to Thursday 12 August 2021. No Unit 4 classes this day.
- Nazareth House Athletics Carnival: Rescheduled to Tuesday 17 August 2021.
- College Mass for Nazareth Day: Rescheduled to Thursday 19 August 2021.
- Staff Professional Development Day: Friday 20 August 2021 (no school, no classes).
- Nazareth Day: Rescheduled to Thursday 26 August 2021: No classes on this day. School activities all day.
- Winter Sleepout: Friday 27 August 2021.
Contact and Health Details
For the health and wellbeing of all students it is important the school has updated health information for students as well as accurate contact details should we need to contact parents or guardians during the day. If there have been changes to your contact details or there are health issues please contact the College so as we can ensure we have up to date records.
Nazareth Day
As seen above we have rescheduled Nazareth Day to Thursday 26 August 2021 due to the change to the Athletics Carnival date and our desire not to have three student free days in a week. On Nazareth Day there are no classes and students will have an assembly, a range of activities and a Talent Quest in the afternoon. The Talent Quest is a highlight and we encourage students interested in participating, whatever your talent may be, to contact Mr Landid.
The celebration of our Community also involves a Nazareth Mass as we give thanks to God for all the blessings of our community and ask God to continue to bless and guide our College as we entrust it to you. This Mass will be on Thursday 19 August, 2021. We also aim for our Nazareth Day to be a celebration of our multicultural diversity and the great richness the different cultures bring to our community. Students are invited to dress in cultural dress on Nazareth Day. We look forward to this celebration.
The Weeks Ahead
As we move through these next few weeks with students on campus, it is a good time for the students to be looking to grow from the work they have already done this year and try and consolidate their learning. If students are having any struggles with their learning, wellbeing or adjusting to the changes in learning, we encourage them to please speak to their Pastoral Teacher, Head of House or a member of the Wellbeing Team.
Child Safety
At Nazareth we take Child Safety very seriously. Our Child Safety Team meet each fortnight to work to try and make sure Nazareth is as safe as it can be for our students. A reminder of our Child Safety Team members is below. If there are any concerns in this area or questions, please contact a member of the Wellbeing Team so as we can work together for the safety of our students.
