Term 3 begins

Dear students, teachers, parents and the Cecil Hills community,

Welcome back!... To online learning.   Due to the circumstances of the rising COVID-19 cases, we are back to our screens.

We understand that lockdown is an unusual time and can make us feel helpless and overwhelmed due to isolation, stress and anxiety. However, we have persevered once and we will be able to get through this once again!

We would like to show our appreciation to all teachers and staff who have been working tirelessly to provide us with the best online learning experience. The hard work and dedication shown by our teachers keep us motivated and inspired. During this time, it can be challenging for students to learn however, something that is often overlooked is the mode of teaching that our teachers have adapted to. We recognise that it can be frustrating and mentally draining to talk to screens all day, yet they make it look easy and pull it off like legends.

To our parents, thank you for your endless support and encouragement to do our best during this difficult time. Thank you for being our alarm clocks, tutors, tech support, home chefs and motivational speakers. It is truly appreciated.

To our fellow students, please continue to show respect to your teachers, by arriving on time to your lessons, engaging with online learning and thanking them for their commitment to our learning.

Also, we believe maintaining our mental and physical health is crucial to our overall well-being. To help maintain a healthy balance of school and home life we recommend the following:

Break down your work and don’t be afraid to seek help from your Teachers,
Year Advisers or the SRC team!
Stay hydrated
Spend quality time with those in your household
Try and avoid staying on your screens all day, partake in activities YOU enjoy
Going outside during your breaks! Go for a brisk walk and enjoy the sunshine

Although the COVID-19 pandemic has taken us all by storm, we are growing and developing life-long skills without even realising it. This experience is teaching us to be self-sufficient and organised whilst also learning to be kind, patient and compassionate with others. We want to encourage you to see the positives and remember the principles of resilience in any hardships you may face.

Finally, we want to advise you to keep up with the NSW Health Guidelines and continue to follow restrictions to ensure we protect the health of our community.

Remember,

Success is not final, failure is not fatal,
it is the courage to continue that counts.
We are ALL in this together!
Stay safe, happy and healthy.
We look forward to seeing you all soon

Lots of love from your School Captains

Violeta Bozanic and Max Krol
