Students recreating Cecil Hills High School on Minecraft

When we said goodbye at the end of Term 2, ready and eager for the school holidays, we did not know then, that when school started up again only a couple of weeks later, it would be online. With the delicious smell of brownies baking in the canteen now a distant memory, our ever creative students however did not let lockdown stop them miss their school environment…they created their own digital replica of our school on Minecraft

Led by the ever creative Jaidyn Lieu: (Year 10) we asked ‘What made you creative Cecil online?  ‘I was bored and I suggested the idea to my group and they seemed pretty keen on doing it, so then I organised making a private server on Minecraft. Domara Oraham: (Year 12) added ‘Since we all enjoyed playing Minecraft together after school, we wanted to create a memento that we would remember when we graduated from high school. So, we all decided to contribute to building Cecil Hills High School in Minecraft

How many stages were there in the build? DomaraWe initially started building the front of the school, starting from the gate, office, canteen, gym and so on from there. Sabrina added “Stage 6 is not even halfway done, in my opinion it would be at least 1/8, and Jacinta noted “I did the marking and layout of the classrooms because I somewhat remembered the size and space of the rooms but the others are building wizards, they actually built it up by using codes just to make the progress much quicker.

We are all looking forward to the end result.
