Tournament of the Minds

Exciting Challenge ahead

Our High Potential and Gifted Education team is providing an exciting opportunity for our school by participating in Tournament of the Minds. 

Tournament of Minds (TOM) is a problem-solving program for students who work together to solve a demanding, open-ended Long-Term Challenge. The team must also participate in an unseen Spontaneous Challenge on Tournament Day. Tournament of Minds aims is to enhance the potential of our youth by developing diverse skills, enterprise, time management, and the discipline to work collaboratively within a challenging and competitive environment.

We have a Year 10 team engaging in the Social Science challenge. This challenge asks for the views and response of others. 

This encourages students to consider and develop empathy for alternative viewpoints.

We also have a Year 8 team engaging in the STEM challenge. The combination of the STEM principles provides an integrated approach for students to deepen their conceptual understanding, and using their creative and critical thinking skills to solve the challenge within an authentic context, mirroring the real world.
