Our dedicated teachers welcome you back

Year 12 Hospitality students

I got positoovity
It gives me the zam and the zow
And the yaddle laddle laddle
That’s why I walk with a wiggle in my waddle
Cause once you’ve heard that word
There ain’t nothing you can do
So let that positoovity work for you

25th Anniversary

In 2021, Cecil Hills High School celebrates its 25th anniversary.  We now expect to hold our celebratory events in Term 4.  We will advise students of our revised date when confirmed.

Learning from Home

Thanks to our wonderful parent community for all the positive feedback we have received about our learning from home program.  I would like to thank all of our teachers who have embraced this challenge to ensure continuity of learning using technology.

This is an incredibly stressful time for parents and families so please reach out to the school if your child needs any extra assistance.  It is important for families to read our relevant updates when issued.  You may find these websites useful:

  • School blog:  This part of our school website has our communication with families.
  • Student wellbeing:  This part of our school website outlines some wellbeing services.
  • Online learning handbook:  This document details our approach to learning from home.
  • Literacy and numeracy:  This part of our school website has a range of literacy and numeracy resources for students to use.

It is essential for students to log into Microsoft Teams on time at the start of each lesson to ensure students receive explicit teaching and continuity of learning.

Year 12 students

NESA and the NSW Department of Education are ensuring that Year 12 students are provided with updated information on a range of issues including trial HSC exams and the submission of major works.  The current advice from NESA in relation to the HSC can be accessed here.

At this stage, trial HSC exams have been delayed until Week 5 and Week 6, Term 3.  In terms of my introductory quote, it is important for Year 12 students to have a sense of “positoovity” and take one day at a time.  NESA processes will ensure that Year 12 students are not disadvantaged by the current situation.  Our previous Year 12 cohort in 2020 faced similar circumstances and they achieved excellent results and gained entry to university and other courses.

Parent Information Sessions

Our next online Parent Information Session will be held at 6:30pm on Monday, 2 August 2021.  This meeting will have a focus on Year 10 subject selection.  Information on logging into the meeting will be emailed to parents.

I look forward to continuing to work with the staff, students and parents of Cecil Hills High School, the best school in NSW.
