Hello, from the Music room

Music News from Ms. Bridget Finch.

The choir was treated to a very special visit in week 7 of school, with two of the members of The Waifs popping in. The choir learned The Waif's song 'Lighthouse' this year and it has been a bit of a favourite, so it was a fantastic experience to have Vikki and Josh visit to hear the choir sing - and join in! They were so impressed when the choir sang Lighthouse for them that they had the choir sing it twice, the second time Vikki harmonised with them during the chorus.

Vikki and Josh have been with the band for over twenty-five years and they shared their experiences of performing and songwriting with everyone. They gave an hour of their time, asking and answering lots of questions, one of which they mentioned in their gig that night - "What's your salary?" - the question that led to a great discussion around how bands are paid and how hard they work to make a living.

I kept the visit very quiet, only telling the choir about The Waif's visit fifteen minutes before they arrived, so it was a fun surprise to share and I'm very grateful to have had them drop in and be so generous with their time. The choir were respectful, asked thoughtful questions and even shared songwriting tips. Well done Choir!
